FUNDING
Update December 2025
We were delighted to receive the news last week from East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership that we have been granted a further 2 year contract for funding until 31/03/2028. This was in recognition of a strong contract performance, demonstration that our services are delivered to a high standard and that we offer excellent value for money. Whilst this is wonderful news and the contract extension will provide continued financial support for a further 2 years it will still be necessary to continue fundraising for approximately 50% of the service which is not covered by this contract.
Previous Information
From our inception we have been funded by an annual grant from East Lothian Council (ELC).
In January 2024 the annual grant was replaced by a contract with East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (ELH&SCP). We submitted a response to the tender for Day Services that replaced previous grant funding arrangements. We were delighted that we were successful in securing the contract. It requires us to provide a service in line with the standards set out within the contract and this is subject to quarterly monitoring review. This contract runs until 31st March 2026 when it is subject to review.
In order to meet our costs this core funding income, whilst welcome, has to be supplemented by donations (make an on-line donation), legacies, member contributions and fundraising events such as coffee mornings etc. We are particularly grateful for the funding we have received from North Berwick Community Trust and Friends of the Edington which has enabled us to create and expand our Reach Out service.

Our members can have a review of their medications in the Day Centre but anyone can get in touch with the pharmacy team and ask for a review as well as advice on medication in general. Link below for more information.

Drop-In Coffees are back, available from 10am to 11.30am, Monday to Friday. Cost £3. It's a great place for a coffee or tea and chat, and its open to everyone. You can also see what the Day Centre is like, and meet some of the members.

ABOUT THE DAY CENTRE
The North Berwick Day Centre is all about improving the quality of life for older people who live independently in and around North Berwick. The Day Centre is in the centre of the North Berwick community; it's a place to make new friends and keep in touch with old ones.
Our activities help people learn new skills and hobbies, rediscover old ones, build confidence and have fun. We also provide a little bit of help and support and a nutritious home cooked meal - all the ingredients to help people live longer and more happily and independently in their own homes.
If you are living independently in the community, and want a bit more out of life (or know someone who does) get in touch.
If you need support with hearing, mobility, sight, special diet etc. you will be supported by the staff at the Day Centre, who will ensure you have the appropriate equipment or support to enable you to get the most from your Day Centre.
